MIYAKODA RESEARCH INSTITUTE
HAMAMATSU, JAPAN

This 330 foot-long by 75 foot-wide sculpture, composed of 15 granite elements, creates the main entrance gateway to a high technology think tank in Hamamatsu, Japan. The work expresses a progression of forms from the natural world, historically so greatly valued in Japan, to its antithesis: an ever-present world of high technology. The viewer, entering the complex by car, bicycle or foot, is enveloped in this metamorphosis of nature and technology which suggests the importance and inherent beauty of both.
