Pegasus Plaza

As a symbol of rebirth, the flying red neon and steel Pegasus atop the Magnolia Building in Dallas has also long been a symbol for the spirit of the city. According to the Greek myth of Pegasus, the hero Perseus slew Medusa, the snaked-haired Gorgon. From her head sprang Pegasus who leapt into the air. Where Pegasus' hoof struck the ground, a well sprang forth and the Muses, the inspiration for creativity, came to gather. An existing natural mineral spring 1,600 feet below the Magnolia Building was tapped into at this urban park that physically recreates the myth of Pegasus and stands as a symbol for Dallas' many struggles to arise again from turbulent times.
