Museums on the River

WICHITA MUSEUM DISTRICT
WICHITA, KANSAS

The artist, in collaboration with HOK Architects and PEC Engineers, designed Museum Boulevard, located adjacent to the Arkansas River which flows throughout downtown Wichita. Located along the one-mile roadway, four museums make up the Wichita Museum District. Comprised of the Wichita Art Museum, Botanica, Old Cowtown Museum and the Mid-America All-Indian Center, this museum district and the interstitial spaces between them features a series of stone walls, constructed of native Kansas limestone. The stone walls weave through the entire length of the boulevard designating each museum while uniting the full length of the streetscape into a unified whole.
