CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TRANSITWAY, Dallas area rapid transit (DART)
Dallas, Texas

The DART Light Rail Transitway bisects approximately a two-mile stretch through downtown Dallas with four station stops, and was part of the first line section of the DART light rail to be built. Working with an urban design team and landscape architect, the artist envisioned a system of way-finding elements for a populace not accustomed to rail. Found at each of the four stations, a Map Sculpture illustrates the entire Central Business District in relief bronze. An area within a 10-minute walking distance from each particular station becomes proportionally three-dimensional on that particular way-finder, creating a visually based, rather than text based, type of directional way-finding.
