Houston Waters II

STREETSCAPE PROJECT, CITY CENTER
HOUSTON, TEXAS

Two granite water sculptures and their accompanying radial benches create a focal point at the northeast and northwest corners of the intersection of Congress and Main Streets in downtown Houston. Water clings to the rippled surfaces of two vessel forms which, in conjunction with pool up-lighting, create a pattern of water and light. Along with Metro's new rail station on Main Street between Preston and Congress Streets, an active downtown business day and vibrant night life, and an influx of new restaurants, hotels, and clubs, the water vessels and benches take on a distinctly different atmosphere by day and night, and work together with many other urban elements to create a new sense of elegance for downtown Houston.
