GROVE ROOMS

MOORE SQUARE
RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA

The artist collaborated with Sasaki Associates on the re-design of Moore Square, a full city block designated as a historic district and very important place within the living memory of the black community of Raleigh, North Carolina. This project includes two Grove Rooms, which are sited within existing groves of 200-year-old oak trees within the park. The first Grove Room is a 27' x 75' elliptical outdoor space with two 24' long granite Community Tables with moveable seating and the second Grove Room consists of a 27' x 45' sculptural spiral stone seating bench that creates another community space, which responded to the site and were integrated into the overall project design.
