Bloomington Stoneware

CITY HALL
BLOOMINGTON, Indiana

Located in the town famous for being the source of Indiana Limestone, The Nation's Building Stone, this 14' tall by 9' diameter water vessel is completely hand-carved of Indiana Limestone. Water flows from the top of the vessel into a narrow channel integrated into a large serpentine earth form. The channel of water meanders through a grove of river birch trees and culminates in a spiral runnel. Regional Native American cultural influences, archetypal forms, ancient uses of stone and water, and excellence in the tradition of stone craftsmanship form the conceptual seed for this work.
