Photography has been, for over thirty years, a vital aspect of my experiencing the world. Used as a means of recording that which has been experienced and "seen", it has served as a powerful source of inspiration in terms of research, lessons learned, and reference material. Photographs made while working in places around the world for extended periods of time have recorded aspects of particular cultures that have deeply affected me and served as a means to finding my own personal voice and expression.
The photographs presented here were primarily taken with 35mm Nikon SLR cameras starting with a 1964 Nikon F purchased new in Tokyo by my father. After years with this camera, I eventually moved on to F3, N90S, and F100 bodies. All original 35mm slides were scanned with a Nikon 4000 ED slide scanner. Since transitioning to digital, images have been produced using D100, D1X, D2H, D2X, D200, D3 and D700 bodies.
