Luminaria

DALLAS LOVE FIELD AIRPORT
DALLAS, TEXAS

Stepping outside of her artistic collaboration with Brad, Diana Goldberg collaborated with artist Julie Cohn on a public art project at the main entrance to Love Field Airport. Inspired by the vast amount of visually engaging technological information in aeronautics and honoring Love Field's history, the artists conceived of Luminaria as a melding of art and technology. Luminaria provides warm welcome, human scale interest, and references regional cultural roots. The archetypal cylindrical form, referencing the fuselage, is laser cut with interpretive patterning representing critical concepts that allow flight to occur: Computer Technology, Weather and Mapping, Routing, Thermodynamics, The Bernouli Principle, and Modern Physics. Lit by sixteen interior florescent lights, the six luminarias are engaging by day or night, creating a metaphorical Illumination of Ideas.
