"MESQUITE BOSQUE" PHOENIX MUNICIPAL COURTHOUSE - PHOENIX, ARIZONA

The open space in front of the Phoenix Municipal Courts Building features a grove of native mesquite trees, which calls attention to the cultural significance of this historically important Sonoran Desert tree. Three multi-colored stone carpets roll-out over a ground plane of decomposed granite and low-lying desert plants. A sense of welcome is created for visitors to an environment whose function is perceived as critical and sometimes tensioned-filled.
